ABC Family Channel, owned by the Walt Disney Co, is playing against type in a press kit to promote its edgy new animated series, “Slacker Cats.”
Disney, which is famous for its immaculate presentations of its G-rated products, sent out a booklet describing the new show with an apparent coffee stain on the cover and containing the un-Disney-like phrase “half-assed” to describe the antics of the two feline main characters.
The pilot, created by “The Book of Bunny Suicides” cartoonist Andy Riley and “Little Britain” writer Kevin Cecil, makes reference to faking purrs, mind-altering drugs, “kitty” porn and credit card theft, in the first 15 minutes.
ABC Family has scheduled the launch of its “outrageous and decidedly grown up” foray into animation waaaayyy past kids’ bedtimes — at 10 p.m. Aug. 13.

Nice rundown!
I’ve heard a bit about this show and am definitely looking forward to checking it out. I think it’s cool that they’re expanding their content, especially for those of us without “kids” or our own families!!
Looks like it’ll be fun…

I’m sure the show is hillarious.
However I have 2 major issues:
1) They are showing the commercials for it all day long - when kids are more than likely to be watching!!!
2) That show is far worse than some things mentioned in movies they show (Grease, Legally Blonde.) They edit those things out - even things not that bad - but they can have a show on with lots of cursing, talk about sex etc…and show those ads in the middle of the day?????
It’s bad enough they are showing shows such as Greek which promotes frats and sororities on campus. EVERYONE knows what they do, and many don’t approve of it.
I thought this was supposed to be a channel that FAMILIES can watch together!!!!

I agree with Stacey. I have major problems with commercials showing during daytime hours. When I first saw the commercials, I almost died. I told a friend about this “show” and she was convinced I was watching the wrong channel and that it must have been on adult swim cartoon network. I am appalled at this new endeavor and completely at a loss of what this will do to our future generations. I strongly urge ABC Family and Disney to reconsider the material they create. ABC Family is no longer a channel I will allow my children to watch.

i think show will be fine for those of us who are old enough for this kind of stuff but defintely not families! so i must ask why is it being put on a family channel, i have a younger sister who is to young to watch that kind of show and she stays up til midnight or later watching abc family and channels such as that.

I love the new direction, I’ve watched Little Britain a few times and, since watching the premier, have looked up The Book of Bunny Suicides. I can’t wait to see what else the cast has planned.
P.S. Don’t let the annoying soccer moms piss you off too much, just use their hatemail to line your litterbox.
